What are these two approaches?
For successful weight loss, the neurobehavioral and nutrigenomics approaches are a great combination since they explore both the physical and mental aspects of weight management. The first approach explores why certain behaviors may be causing weight gain and how to change them so that weight can be lost naturally without feeling restrictive or forced. On the other hand, nutrigenomics uses genetic information to customize treatments – knowing that everyone’s body responds differently to different foods and exercises makes it possible to create an effective weight loss plan tailored towards individual needs. In this way, weight loss can become healthy and sustainable rather than involving drastic measures which can lead to frustration in the long run.

Why Neuroscience?
Dr. Hamilton feels that many of our current behaviors are driven by the brain and her program helps to identify and rewire those brain pathways in order to not only achieve, but maintain, the weight loss results. Behaviors are the primary currency for habits and habits are our automatic default behavior. For example, have you ever felt yourself reaching for a late-night snack when you’re not hungry or grabbing something sweet when you had a stressful day? These behaviors start in the brain and have become default habits done automatically without thinking about them. This is the reason many people regain weight after being on a diet or just stop trying to be healthy. Identifying and addressing these will help create new healthy behaviors that become automatic, otherwise, you may find yourself slipping back into your old routine if this does not get addressed. This is what we call a neurobehavioral approach, where we use your brain to change your behaviors.
